South Central Rural Telephone Cooperative has spent the last few months negotiating retransmission rights with the over-the-air broadcasters for the years 2009, 2010 and 2011. Unfortunately due to conditions beyond the control of South Central, there will be changes with several of our broadcast channels beginning in 2009. These changes will be different based on where members live. Below will detail the reasons for the changes and how this will affect our members: Monroe / Allen County
members:Channel 32, WLKY CBS and channel 41 WDRB-FOX, both from Louisville would not allow South Central to continue retransmitting their signal to Monroe and Allen counties. Both will be dropped from the lineup. We are changing channel 31 to WNAB-CW from Nashville (removing WBKO-CW from Bowling Green). Please note this is not to channel 13 WBKO-ABC. In summary… · Dropping channel 32 WLKY-CBS Louisville · Dropping channel 41 WDRB-FOX Louisville · Changing channel 31 to WNAB-CW, Nashville (removing WBKO-CW) Larue / Green / Nelson county
members:Channel 2, WKRN ABC and channel 4 WSMV NBC, both from Nashville would not allow South Central to continue retransmitting their signal to Larue, Green and Nelson counties. All three will be dropped from the lineup. In summary… · Dropping channel 2 WKRN-ABC Nashville · Dropping channel 4 WSMV-NBC Nashville · Dropping channel 7 WNKY-NBC Bowling Green Barren / Hart / Metcalfe county
members:South Central Rural Telephone Cooperative has spent the last few months negotiating retransmission rights with the over-the-air broadcasters for the years 2009, 2010 and 2011. We were unable to come to agreeable terms with WKRN-ABC, Nashville (channel 2) and that channel was dropped at the end of 2008.
On January 30, 2009, South Central will add WNKY-CBS, Bowling Green on channel position 2.
Regretfully, we must begin blacking out CBS and other protected programming on two CBS affiliates, WKYT, Lexington (channel 27) and WLKY, Louisville (channel 32). WNKY-CBS has an exclusive arrangement with CBS as well as other syndicated programming that grants WNKY the right to be only station allowed to broadcast these programs within the Bowling Green television market. All local programs and games will not be affected. Please contact WNKY-CBS at (270) 781-2140 to voice your concerns or to ask questions. Respectfully, South Central Board of Directors and Management Staff |
