Troubleshooting Suggestions
When your having problems connecting to the internet, loosing connection, or slow connection speeds, try the following:

Station (Phone) Cords
Unplugged Station (Phone) Cords
Check to make sure that the station cord connecting the computer to the phone jack is plugged in securely on each end.

Damaged Station (Phone) Cords
Check to make sure that the station cord connecting the computer to the phone jack is not damaged and that each plastic end (the RJ11) is securely attached to the phone wire itself.  If the cord is damaged, replace it.

Station (Phone) Cord Length
Make certain that the station cord connecting the computer to the phone jack does not exceed 10 feet in length.  If it exceeds this length, replace it with a station cord shorter than 10 feet.

Phone Jack Splitters
Make certain that three are no phone jack splitters between the computer and the wall jack itself.  If so, remove them.  NEVER use jack splitters with computer modems.

Pinched Station Cord
Make certain that the station cord connecting the computer to the phone jack is not pinched, crimped, smashed, etc. by a desk or other piece of heavy furniture.

Connecting Through Surge Protector
If the station cord connecting the computer connects to a surge protector and then connects to a phone jack, try bypassing the surge protector and plug the station cord from the computer directly into the phone jack.
