Dial-up Set-up for Windows 95, 98, ME, or 2000

  1. Click on the Start button, go to Programs, and then go to Accessories.
     
  2. Go to Internet Tools.  (If you do not have Internet Tools, go to Communications)
     
  3. Click on the Internet Connection Wizard.
     
  4. Click on the button that reads, "I want to set up my Internet connection manually...." Click on Next.
     
  5. Click on the button that reads, "I connect through a phone line and a modem." Click on Next.
     
  6. Type the local access modem phone number (XXX-4638) in the Telephone number box.  (Click here to find an access number for your area.)
     
  7. Uncheck the box that reads, "Dial using the area code and country code." Click on Next.
     
  8. Type your username (the part of your e-mail address before the @ sign) into the Username box.
     
  9. Type your password (i.e., ABC12d) into the Password box. Click on Next.
     
  10. Type "SCRTC Internet" into the box that is labeled Connection name. Click on Next.
     
  11. Click on Yes (I want to set up an Internet Mail account now). Click on Next.
     
  12. Win ME and 2000: Click on "Create a new Internet mail account."  Click on Next.
     
  13. Type your real name into the box that reads, "Display Name." Click on Next.
     
  14. Type your e-mail address (i.e., username@scrtc.com) into the E-mail address box. Click on Next.
     
  15. Type mail.scrtc.com into the box that reads, "Incoming mail server."
     
  16. Type smtp.scrtc.com into the box that reads "Outgoing mail server." Click on Next.
     
  17. Type your username into the Account name box.
     
  18. Type your password (i.e., ABC12d) into the Password box.
     
  19. Put a check in the box that reads "Remember password." Click on Next.
     
  20. Click on Finish.
