A Natural Cancer Treatment

Flax Oil and Cottage Cheese

(This page is dedicated in memory of my dad, Earl Froedge)

My name is Linda Froedge Glass and I live in Glasgow, Kentucky.  I feel compelled to write my dad’s story about his long struggle with cancer, and a natural treatment that we learned about that was developed by a German physician, Dr. Johanna Budwig.  I truly believe it prolonged my dad’s life and he had a much better quality of life than he would have had otherwise.

In September 2000, he was diagnosed with colon cancer which was surgically removed.  In January 2002 he started experiencing severe pain in his stomach area and back.  Finally it was so severe he went to the emergency room and he was admitted to the hospital.  After extensive testing, he was told that the colon cancer had spread to his liver, which they referred to as secondary cancer of the liver.  The cancer covered most of his liver.  His prognosis was not good, and they said he had three to six months to live.  Since he was 84 years old, had a heart condition, and was very weak, there was really nothing they could do.  If he had been younger and in better health, a liver transplant possibly could have solved the problem.  They recommended chemotherapy, which would prolong his life, but his quality of life would deteriorate.  He decided that he would not take chemotherapy.

Some friends of mine, Brooks and Lucy Fuller of Edmonton, Kentucky told me about a natural treatment using flax oil and cottage cheese that was developed by a German physician, Dr. Johanna Budwig.  Dr. Budwig claimed the combination of the two created some type of substance that destroyed cancer cells.  My dad had never believed in natural treatments, but in this case he felt he had nothing to lose, and it was very inexpensive.  In March 2002 he started taking four tablespoons of flax oil and one-half cup of cottage cheese every day.  One important note - the flax oil must be kept refrigerated from the time it is made.  We bought it at a local health food store where it was refrigerated, and the brand was Barleans.

After about two weeks his pain started to subside.  Up until that time, he had been bedridden.  In three weeks he started driving again and soon was leading a normal life.  He and my mother went out for breakfast every morning and he began to farm again.  He even traveled to Florida to visit his sister for a week.

He continued the flax oil and cottage cheese for almost 700 days.  (He had me to mark the calendar to keep track of how long he had been doing this).  After about six months his doctor asked him to go back for testing because he was amazed that he was still alive.  His doctor told him that he wouldn’t say the treatment had worked, that a mistake may have been made in the diagnosis, but to keep doing what he was doing.  My dad said, “well, either I have cancer or I don’t, I feel good, and testing won’t change anything”.   He began to tell others about the flax oil and cottage cheese and credited it with saving his life.

As time went on he began to hate the taste of the flax oil, and especially the cottage cheese, and since he was feeling so good, it got more difficult for him to continue this treatment.  He usually mixed the flax oil in some kind of juice and drank it while eating the cottage cheese.  After about 700 days, he convinced himself that he never had cancer in the first place, and he quit taking it in January 2004.

I reminded him about a tape that we had listened to by Cliff Beckwith, in which it was stated that the treatment must be for life, or the cancer cells will rapidly regrow and spread.  (Mr. Beckwith had interviewed several people who had tried this treatment and spoke to large groups of people about its effectiveness).

About three weeks later he started experiencing pain again, and on February 27th 2004  he started losing blood.  We took him to the emergency room where he was admitted to the hospital.  Testing showed the cancer covered about half his liver, and there were several smaller cancers.  Apparently it was spreading rapidly.  They told him there was nothing they could do for him.  After we got home from the hospital, we tried to resume the flax oil/cottage cheese treatment, but at that point he couldn’t keep it down.   He told several family members that he made a mistake in thinking he never had cancer, and he regretted not continuing the flax oil and cottage cheese.  He passed away on April 19th 2004.

This web page is dedicated to my dad’s memory, and its purpose is to get the word out about this very simple treatment.  It’s very inexpensive and results are fast.  If you would like additional information please email and I’ll be happy to answer any questions.  There is also considerable information available on the Internet.
