SCRTC Employees Take the Stage in Lip-Sync Fundraiser
SCRTC employees recently performed some fun phone songs during the Hometown Showdown Lip Sync Battle, The Sequel. The event raised $53,000 for the T.J. Community Mission Foundation’s project for their plans to build Samsonville Square, a Realistic Environment Applied Learning clinical space focused on rehabilitation and therapy.
Employees spent several months rehearsing their performances, and SCRTC’s Special Equipment Department even built a makeshift phone booth for their phone-inspired medley of songs, which included Tommy Tutone’s 1981 hit, “867-5309/Jenny.” SCRTC’s crew won their battle against Riley Dental for a “Dial Versus Smile” battle.
“This was 1 of the best things for team building, because we had many different departments involved,” says Nicole Randall, SCRTC marketing and sales representative. Competitors also included teams from North Jackson Elementary, Highland Elementary, Glasgow Parks & Recreation, Glasgow Public Works, T.J. Rehab, and T.J. Pharmacy.
Community members bought tickets to watch the show, and real-time voting was possible through a QR Code that took them to a website the organizers created for the event. Live voting results were displayed on a screen at the venue.
